To Pimp a Butterfly
Terrible album title, fantastic album though. "Black man taking no losses", compulsive listening from Kendrick, much more complicated and difficult than previous album which was also on heavy repeat. It has a touch of that D'Angelo record, with its live loose jazzy instrumentation that creeps up. I mean obviously there is no way that Pops is going to be getting into this album, but I feel there is some value in you trying it Andrew. Key tracks "King Kunta", and the considerably improved version of "i" that is on the album. I like the way when he released the single probably about a year before the release of the album it was a departure for Kendrick, with its lightness. The recording on the album is vital, probably song of the year.
